Sarah Kaisi, now commonly known as SHAA, is a 28 year old talented Tanzanian music artist in every sense of the word. This daring young Diva was born on the 7th of November 1985 in a family of four and lives in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. As described by her friends and family, SHAA is vibrant, beautiful and creative with a unique sense of style.
Although SHAA grew up in a musical family, her debut into the music scene took place in early 2004 with the group “WAKILISHA” of the East Africa Coca Cola Pop stars. With the hit single “Hoi” under their belts SHAA and her fellow group members won themselves a spot in the Tanzania music industry. However, due to her studies and personal goals, SHAA left the group and went to Washington DC to further her studies in another passion of hers which is Art. Never the Less, SHAA made sure to always leave her fans with something to remember her with. Therefore, during her studying period, SHAA released two singles under the management of WAKILISHA’s previous manager, Daniel Kiondo of Kiondo Communications International.
However, in October 2008 SHAA landed herself a major record deal with a prominent record label in Tanzania called MJ Records. Under MJ Records, SHAA has managed to record her first Solo Album which is to be launched and released in 2010. SHAA has named her album “ZAMU YANGU” which means “IT”S MY TURN”. According to SHAA this album is called that because her X-group members have already released their solo projects so now it’s high time her fans hear from her.
The album ZAMU YANGU carries Ten songs and in it are many of SHAA’s favorite music genre’s such as Zouk, Reggae and Bongo Flavor (Tanzania’s Sound). SHAA’s management plans to release at least four singles from the album before launching the album. Singles such as “Zamu Yangu”, which carries the Album title, earned SHAA her first Tanzania Music Award nomination for best R&B artist in 2008, and a MAMA(MTV Base) Award Nomination in the Best New Act Category in 2009. “Pambazuka” meaning “Until Dawn” and “Zamu Yangu” are tracks which have already been released in both audio and visual. Both tracks have had quite a great review not only in Tanzania but in the whole of East Africa which goes to prove that it is really SHAA’s turn.
